Making Assistive Technology available throughout a University
Assistive technology has recently become available as part of the standard operating environment on RMIT computers. Screen reading, screen magnification, literacy assistance and voice recognition software are used to make the computer learning environment accessible for students with disabilities.
Making assistive technology available this way, aims at allowing students with disabilities to access computer based learning experiences on any computer on campus. During the planning and implementation phases of this project there have been a number of key points of learning.
This presentation aims at covering issues do to with selection and deployment of assistive technology in a large tertiary institution by using RMIT's experience as a case study.
