Is the Glass Half Full or Half Empty?; Assessing the Success or Failure of Disability Support

  • As part of work on a PhD on disability and higher education issues of the success or otherwise, of disability support in higher education have been explored using multiple sources of data including published statistics document analysis and practitioner interviews. This paper examines the paradoxical situation of disability support being the most successful of all equity programs in higher education alongside practitioner accounts of stress and failure. In addition, issues are raised of how the success is spread or not spread throughout the sector and among different types of students.
